Indian cricket team lead by Rohit Sharma has won their second ICC title in past 10 months as Men In Blue defeated New Zealand in the final of Champions Trophy 2025 played at Dubai Cricket stadium on Sunday February 9th. Skipper Rohit set the tone of victory by putting up hundred plus partnership with Shubman Gill in the chase of 252.

India has now won their third ICC Champions Trophy title in tournament history, previously won in 2013 and 2002 (shared with Sri Lanka). Rohit played excellent innings of 76 in the chase and put India on front seat in the finale. But as soon as Gill was dismissed with brilliant catch taken by Phillips, India lost momentum as Kiwi spinners took wickets at regular intervals in middle overs phase.

Shreyas Iyer also made 48 but couldn’t finish off the game. Star batter in the lineup Virat Kohli couldn’t score more than one run in thus knockout and India was in trouble a bit. Though India had depth in batting lineup, team managed to cross over the line and win Trophy after 12 years.

New Zealand had moments in the match from the starting of the game but unfortunately it wasn’t their day to be at the winning side. Winning the toss, Kiwis had fantastic start and at one stage they were looking to cross more than 300. But Indian spinners came back into the match and restricted NZ to 251 in 50 overs.
