All-rounder Irfan Pathan has been struggling to get back into Indian team from past few years but currently he is looking to give his best in the upcoming Indian Premier League tournament. Chennai Super Kings boss purchased him in the auction and he is desperate to perform well in IPL-8. He is looking to get entry in the national side by impressing selectors and captain Dhoni.
Irfan said, “the dream is to play for the country again. But at the same time, I should make sure that I go there step by step and that is what I am doing. Hopefully I can do well in the upcoming IPL as well. There are some matches coming up after the IPL season. Sooner or later, I will fulfill my dream (of playing for India again).”
There are lots of all-rounders in the Chennai Super Kings team and he is one of them. Hence on his role in the side he mentioned that he is clear with his role and Coach Stephen Fleming has made him understand what he’ll be doing for the side.
Pathan said, “Having many all-rounders is beneficial for the team. I have had a discussion with Stephen Fleming and he gave me an idea as to the kind of role he wants me to play. I am feeling very confident. It is just a matter of what Dhoni thinks in terms of how he is going to utlise me and how the team wants me to play. I think with the experience that I have I can fit in any role. I just have to be ready mentally.”
Irfan has already played previous IPL seasons for Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils. This is the first occasion when he’ll be playing for CSK, hence he said it’d be new experience for him with Chennai and looking forward to perform well.
“It is a new team for me but there are a lot of guys in the team that I know very well. So, I am really excited to play with the most successful team in the IPL so far. And I am really excited to play under Dhoni.
