The Grand Slam in tennis is also popular as Majors. It is compromised of four prestigious international tennis tournaments. A singles player or doubles team wins all these four annual events in the same year, it is said that they’ve achieved Grand Slam.
Grand Slam itinerary is the composition of Australian Open, Roland Garros de Paris (French Open), Wimbledon Championships and US Open. These four international tennis tournaments have different players participation, ranking points, prize money, surfaces used to play, media coverage and much more.
Each of these tennis events take place in two weeks.

1. Australian Open
It is one of the first Grand Slam events that takes place every year in January. The Australian Open tennis tournament takes place at Melbourne Park. Grasscourt was used for Australian Open from 1905 to 1987. Authorities introduced Hardcourt in 1988. Australia host this event in mid January.
2. French Open
This is the second Grand Slam event of the year and it takes place in May and June. French Open is also known as Roland Garros de Paris. This tennis competition is played on clay court. It is hosted in Paris evey year and was founded in 1891.
3. Wimbledon
The Wimbledon Championship is officially known as “The Lawn Tennis Championships”. It is played on Grass court since it’s inception in 1877. Wimbledon tennis championships is the oldest tennis tournament and it takes place every year in July at All England Club, London. Wimbledon championship is quite interesting and disciplined as players have to follow strict all-white dress code to compete in the tournament.
4. US Open
It is official termed as “United States Open” tennis tournament. New York City’s USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center hosts the US Open championship that was founded in 1881. This annual tennis event is held in August and September.
Currently it is played on Hardcourt. From 1881 to 1974, US Open was played on Grasscourt and from 1975 to 1977, Claycourt was used for US Open. Hardcourt is being used since 1978.
