This innings was so highly rated because Lara played this innings in the fourth innings of the test match which was dominated by the Aussies for the first 3 days. 400* – Against England At Antigua in 2004
This is the innings that grabbed the attention of the whole world. This remains the highest individual score by a player in an international test match till date. Lara completely dominated the English bowlers right from the first bowl. His innings was filled with 43 fours and 4 sixes. The West Indies went on make a mammoth total of 751/5 in the first innings and declared their innings. The match eventually ended in a draw.
277 -Against Australia At Sydney in 1992-93
This was the only the fifth test match that Brain Lara was playing. West indies were struggling at 31-2 when a 23 year old Lara came to the center of SCG. He took on the Aussie bowlers and scored this maiden test century and eventually a double century. Lara’s innings helped West Indies post a score of 608 in reply to Australia’s 503/9 dec. The match eventually ended in a draw but had announced the arrival of Brian Lara in the test cricket.
375 – Against England At Antigua in 1994

Well that is what exactly happened during this match when Brain Lara pulled Chris Lewis for a four to go past Gary Sobers highest individual score in a test innings of 365. Losing six straight test matches, the West Indies and their captain Brain Lara was under huge pressure, when they faced the mighty Aussies. After restricting the Aussies at 256, the West Indies were reduced to 34/4 and needed a miracle to save the test match. This called for a captain’s knock, Lara initially played very carefully but once he was set he went into an attacking mode and scored a double century and helped his team post a score of 431.The West Indies went on to win the test match and ended their drought for a test victory.
