FIFA has given official rights to Sky Sport for broadcasting live football matches of 2015 FIFA Under-20 world cup in New Zealand. Sky Sport has signed contract with FIFA to telecast U20 world cup on television and also promote the tournament. Federation De International Football Association is pleased to associate with Sky Sport for the promotion of world cup.
FIFA Director of TV Niclas Ericson said, “FIFA is delighted to be working with SKY Sport in New Zealand to broadcast and promote the FIFA U-20 World Cup this year. The FIFA U-2O World Cup showcases the very best in young talent in the game – this is where fans get to see the stars of the future.”
“FIFA believes the staging of this major tournament and SKY’s dedicated, world-class coverage of the matches will raise the profile of football in New Zealand to a new level and inspire a whole new generation of players and fans,” he added.
Local Organising Committee Chief Executive Dave Beeche has mentioned that SKY Sport is one of the popular sports broadcasting networks in New Zealand and it is going to be exciting for football fans and FIFA to be associated with Sky Sport.
Mr. Beeche said, “SKY has proven to be one of the best in the business when it comes to broadcasting live sport, and we’re very excited to have them on board for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Our goal is to fill the stadiums, and would encourage fans to get in quick if they want to experience the thrill of the game live in the stadium environment, however, we appreciate that even the most committed fans will struggle to get to every game, so we’re delighted SKY are covering the entire event.”
This year Sky Sport also broadcasted ICC Cricket World Cup successfully and Richard Last (Sky Sport’s Director of Sport) believes that FIFA U20 world cup 2015 will promote the football game in country.
He said, “Hosting the FIFA U-20 World Cup is a huge deal for New Zealand, and being able to screen every match will give customers a great opportunity to enjoy another world-class event on SKY Sport. The event will feature the future superstars of the most popular sport in the world – and it’s fantastic we’re able to experience another international sporting event so soon after the hugely-successful ICC Cricket World Cup.”
FIFA Under-20 world cup has been scheduled to play from 30 May to 20 June, 2015. A total of 52 matches will be played in the competition.
