Former Australian umpire Simon Taufel has all high praise for Pakistan on his recent visit to country during PSL’s 5th edition. Five times ICC best umpire award winner Simon not only praised security arrangements but also prepared “Chai aka Tea” at local restaurant in Karachi.

SportsMirchi got chance to talk with him during his visit to the “Chai Ho Jaye?” Dhaba in Karachi. He mentioned that country has been changed what he saw before 10 years back. Security arrangements are better and now Pakistan is safe to play cricket.
“We have been looked after quite nicely here so far in Karachi. The security is amazing and I must say Pakistan has been changed now in the past few years. Teams can visit the nation to play cricket,” Taufel said.
On asking how’s the taste of tea he made, he replied with laugh, “That’s amazing. Taste is something special with ingredients present in Karachi Chai,” he told SportsMirchi.com.
Simon Taufel was present in 2009 when terrorists attacked Sri Lanka cricket team during their visit.

He acknowledges the contribution of officiating matches in Pakistan during his career. Taufel won best umpiring ICC award for successive five years during 2004 and 2008.
“I am very pleased to be back in a country that offered me a lot during my umpiring career. It’s early days in terms of our experiences but it’s been a warming experience and very enjoyable to walk the streets in Pakistan and see the ground here again.”
He roam around Karachi streets along with legendary West Indies cricketer Curtly Ambrose and commentator Barry Wilkinson. These three attended birthday celebration party of thalassemia children in the city.
