Indian cricket team escapes at 2019 cricket world cup as team managed to beat Afghanistan just by 11 runs. It could be the biggest upset of tournament after Sri Lanka’s victory over England if Afghanistan beat India tonight. Mohammad Shami is the hero for Men In Blue as he took hat-trick in the last over of the match to seal victory for India.
Mohammed Shami has become second Indian cricketer to take hat-trick in cricket world cup. Before him, Chetan Sharma took hat trick in 1987 ICC world cup. Eventually this is the first occasion in ICC cricket world cup 2019 when a bowler has taken three wickets on successive balls.
Winning the toss, India chose to bat first and their decision seemed to be firing back as Rohit Sharma returned to pavilion quickly. After that Rahul and Kohli tried to build the partnership but couldn’t do as KL Rahul was dismissed by Nabi. Virat Kohli scores brilliant half century on this tricky wicket where ball wasn’t coming to the bat easily.
At one stage, India was looking to score 250+ runs but some top quality bowling from Afghanistan couldn’t allow Indian batsmen to score freely and whole team managed to put 224 runs on the board in 50 overs for the lose of 8 wickets. Kedar Jadhav also contributed 52 runs.
“At the halfway mark, we did have some doubts in our mind about what’s going to happen in this game, but we did have belief, collective belief,” Kohli said after the match.
