Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to propose September dates to Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for next year’s Asia Cup to be held in the country. ACC to organize a meeting in Thailand next week to finalize the dates of 2020 Asia Cup and PCB chairman Ehsan Mani to attend that meeting to propose organizing Twenty20 tournament in mid September.

The main object of organizing Asia Cup in September 2020 is to give players a top class tournament for the preparation ahead of T20 World Cup in October 2020 scheduled to be held in Australia.

“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani is to leave for Thailand within next couple of days to attend the ACC meeting. Pakistan’s interest in the meeting is to get favourable dates for the Asia Cup already allotted to Pakistan. PCB wants to hold the event well ahead of the T20 World Cup and the best dates it seems are early or mid September,” a source quoted as saying by thenews.com.pk.

However there are still concerns over tournament’s venue Pakistan due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.

Last edition that was held in 2018 in UAE, was originally scheduled to be played in India. But Pakistan and India political tensions, took the tournament away from India.

India won 2018 Asia Cup defeating Bangladesh in the final.
