Argentina national football team coach Lionel Scaloni has confirmed that star footballer Lionel Messi will be the part of team that will contest in this year’s Copa America in Brazil. In a press conference on Monday 25th March 2019, Scaloni mentioned that 80% squad is confirmed for South America’s showpiece soccer event and there are options for 3-4 positions in the team.
“We have decided 80 per cent of the [squad] for the Copa America, we are missing three or four places. In principle, Messi was at his maximum [against Venezuela], he got very involved in the group and he finished the game,” coach said during press conference ahead of Morocco friendly game.
Messi joined Argentine side in the friendly match against Venezuela and he returned to the national side after 2018 world cup. According coach, Messi was involved with the team effectively although Argentina lost by 3-1 against Venezuela. Team will play last preparation match against Morocco on Tuesday ahead of Copa America 2019.

“We talked about the game, not the future. But it is clear that he will be at the Copa America. It’s something that we knew could happen in attack, we have to work so that does not happen, that each player is not attracted to Messi and understands that he is one more player that will help win the matches.”
Argentina will face Colombia, Paraguay and Qatar in the Group-B of Copa America starting from June 14th.
