BCCI selection committee announced Indian squads for upcoming West Indies tour and Virat Kohli will remain skipper of the national side. MS Dhoni is not part of the team India for ODIs and T20Is on the Caribbean tour and Rishabh Pant is given full tour as the wicket-keeper batsman.
There were reports that Rohit Sharma would be appointed skipper of Indian side for limited overs cricket but BCCI shut down those reports when they declared that Kohli will be leading Men In Blue squads on the West Indies. Surprisingly Rohit Sharma is included in the test squad and he’ll be deputy of Kohli in twenty20s and One-Day Internationals.
“Rishabh Pant has not done anything wrong for his non-inclusion. We know he’s the only wicketkeeper to get a 100 in England and then in Australia. Pant will play in all formats, we have to manage his workload,” selector MS Prasad said in the press conference.
Ajinkya Rahane is the vice-captain in tests. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey have been selected for the ODIs and T20Is as India look forward to get an establish batsman for 4th number position. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have been rested for white ball cricket.
Dinesh Karthik and Vijay Shankar are out from the national side meanwhile Shikhar Dhawan makes comeback after recovering from thumb injury during Australia’s game in 2019 world cup.
