Kolkata Knight Riders are keen to buy Australia’s former pace bowler Mitchell Johnson for the upcoming 10th edition of Indian Premier League starting from 5th April. As per local report from Kolkata correspondent, a close source from KKR has revealed that franchise is looking to buy Johnson in IPL 2017 auction on Saturday 4 February.
“We are looking for some good pace bowlers in 2017 players auction. And Mitch is one of the best options to go with. Johnson is a fantastic player and is handy in the starting overs”, official mentioned to the correspondent.
KKR released fast bowlers ahead of auction that includes big guns like Morne Morkel, Shaun Tait, John Hastings and Jason Holder. Hence team is looking to purchase some good fast bowlers in the auction. Mitchell Johnson is in prime form as in recently concluded Big Bash League, he was highest wicket-taker for Perth Scorchers who claimed their third BBL title.

Johnson took 13 wickets in the sixth edition of KFC Big Bash. He was phenomenal with the ball in semifinal against Melbourne Stars as he had great bowling figures with 3 wickets for just 3 runs in four overs. Eventually Johnson had the best economy under 6.00 of the tournament.
The Aussie bowler was released by Kings XI Punjab in the given window for players retention and release.
Kolkata Knight Riders won 2012 and 2014 editions of Indian Premier League and will look to repeat the performance in 2017 season scheduled to begin from 5th April. Gautam Gambhir will be leading KKR again in the IPL season.
