One of the best all rounder’s of the game, Jacques Kallis will be a part of the 3rd season of the CPL. The Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel team manager Colin Borde confirmed that Kallis has signed to play for the team for the upcoming season of Caribbean Premier League.
Kallis, who was with the KKR franchise in the recent IPL, acted as a mentor to the team. He also had a successful stint with the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash scoring at an average of almost 40 and also picking 5 wickets in the process. He is getting ready for his maiden season in the Caribbean Premier League.
The T&T team will go into the 3rd season with players like Kallis, Kamran Akmal, Johan Botha and Delport. Borde said that the composition of the team is very well balanced and that the squad will give ample support to the skipper.
Borde added that the team is very flexible and that the 4 spinners in the team will help them to shuffle around even in the bowling department. The likes of Badree, Benn, Botha and Davies are all experienced players and will lend a lot to the team.
Borde also felt that the 3rd season will be a new test for all the teams. He felt that after two seasons, all teams and their coaches would have come to grips with the conditions and playing style in the Caribbean and that the competition will be more competitive than ever.
The first match of this season of the CPL will be played between the reigning champions Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors. The league will start on the 20th of June and the final is scheduled to be played on the 26th of July.
