West Indies hosted 2007 Cricket World Cup from 13th March to 28th April across 8 cities and venues in the Caribbean region. Participating 16 teams were categorized into 4 groups and then two top teams from each group qualified for super-8 stage.

Then after super eight round, top four teams made it through to semifinals and then Sri Lanka and Australia played the final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. Australia beat Sri Lanka by 53 runs (D/L Method) to win successive third ICC World Cup trophy.
