England beat India in first test at Edgbaston to go up 1-0 in series

England have defeated India cricket team in the first test match of five test series 2018. Indian team faced 31-runs lost against English side in an interesting test played at Edgbaston. With this victory, England lead the series by 1-0. It was 1000 test for England and they celebrated with a big victory.

India started day-4 at 110/5 and inform skipper Virat Kohli was batting along with wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik. Jimmy Anderson dismissed Karthik first which setup the perfect start for hosts. After that, Kohli and Hardik were going well and had a partnership of 29 runs which made Indians to think that they could chase the target.

But Ben Stokes had different plans and he dismissed the back of Indian batting as Virat Kohli was out for brilliant 51. He was given LBW. After that Hardik Pandya tried his best but couldn’t take India to home as whole Indian team got all out on 162. Stokes took 4 wickets in the second innings to lead England towards victory.

After the match, in presentation ceremony Kohli said, “There’s nothing better than testing yourself out over five days against top-quality opposition.”

Ben Stokes said, “I thought we were a bit behind after taking the lead, but the way Sam Curran came out and played at such a young age, it was the turning point in this Test match. These games teach us how to stick together as a team.”

Sam Curran was given man of the match for his brilliant all-rounding performance. He took 4 wickets in the first innings and scored much needed and winning 63 runs in the second match.
