Cricket Australia have announced 19-man squad for the upcoming test series in South Africa. Left handed batsman Matthew Wade has been dropped from test squad that competed against India recently and lost the home series by 2-1. Tim Paine is remained skipper of the side while Pat Cummins is his deputy.
Alex Carey is added to the test team at Wade’s place. However Matthew Wade will travel to New Zealand for T20I series as Australia to play two series’ at the same time. Australian team is expected to depart for New Zealand on 7th February. Justin Langer will head to South Africa with test squad while T20I squad will receive guidance from Andrew McDonald as the coach.

Australia added 5 uncapped young players in the test roaster. Apart from Alex Carey, the list includes Sean Abbott, Michael Neser, Mitchell Swepson and Mark Steketee.
“We do not envisage replicating concurrent Australian men’s tours in the future, but we appreciate the need to do so now to assist our friends around the world during this challenging period for international sport and given the additional time requirements of mandatory quarantine periods,” Ben Oliver, the head of national teams said.
South Africa and Australia cricket boards are yet to make final call on three tests series in March.
