Ukraine will be featuring in the 28th edition of Hopman Cup schedules to be held in Perth, Australia from 3 to 9 January 2016. It will be first occasion in 21 years and fourth overall when team Ukraine will participate in Hopman Cup. Last time Ukraine featured in 1995 event in which they were runners-up.
Alexandr Dolgopolov and Elina Svitolina will be representing Ukraine in the 2016 Hopman Cup. Dolgopolov is the country’s top men’s tennis professional player and he’ll be partnering Ukraine women’s top player Elina Svitolina. As of Alexandr’s statement on hopmancup.com, he is eager for the first tournament in new year and give best for the nation.
Alexandr Dolgopolov said, “It’s the first time for me there [Perth]. I’ve heard a lot of nice things about it from players so I’m really excited to go. I think I’ll be playing well because usually I have [a] long preparation in Dubai. That is the same thing I’m planning this year, I’ll come there early.”
Elina Svitolina said, “It’s always nice to play together when you are from the same country. It’s going to be a great opportunity, so I’m really happy. I really like playing mixed doubles, it’s really fast and you can practice a lot, it’s going to be fun.”
