The prestigious bilateral series between the English and the Australians will start on the 8th of July at Cardiff. It is a tournament that the whole cricketing world waits for with excitement. The test series in 1887 started with a game at the Sydney Cricket Ground. England were given the honor of batting first on a very bowler friendly wicket. They could not last too long on the first day as C Turner had a field day.

The Ashes in 1948 in England was one to forget for the home team as they lost the series 4-0 at home. The 5th match of the series started with Australia having won the series already with a 3-0 lead. At the Oval, England won the toss and chose to bat. RR Linwall was the star of the first day as he picked 6 wickets up to dismiss the England team for a mere 52. L Hutton high scored for the home team with 30 runs of 147 balls after opening the innings. A score of 389 by the Australians in their first innings saw the English humiliated to an innings and 149 run loss. They lost the series 4-0 and this was one of the lowest points in the history of English cricket.
