Peter Petherick died on 8th June, 2015 who represented New Zealand in 6 Test matches between October 1976 to March 1977. He was an off spinner and the 2nd player to take a hat trick on Test match debut. Till now, only 3 players have managed to achieve this feat. This is a sort of dream debut, achieving something in your first match, which most of the players are not able to achieve in their entire career.
Peter Petherick was a late starter and made his first class debut at the age of 33. Peter Patherick played just 6 Test matches and picked only 16 wickets during these. It can be well imagined that he couldn’t rise to the expectations, having picked a hat trick on debut and not able to contribute with the ball. Also, he picked 3 wickets in the first innings of his Test match career, and surprisingly all 3 were part of his hat-trick. He picked up just 14 wickets in these 5 Test matches.
Damien Fleming
Third in the list, but he surely had a better career than the other two in the list. Damien Fleming played for Victoria in the domestic circuit and represented Australia in 20 Tests and 88 ODIs. His out swingers were a treat to watch. He was a part of the stage in Australian cricket, when the established bowlers were retiring and Australia was looking for someone to replace them. In his debut Test match against Pakistan at Rawalpindi in 1994, he took a hat trick , after he dismissed Salim Malik. He retired in 2001. 1999 World Cup victory was surely the best part of his entire career.
