BCCI have postponed Vivo IPL 2020 season till further notice due to COVID-19 crisis in the country. Indian government have increased the lockdown period from 14th April to 3rd May. Hence Indian Premier League’s 13th edition can’t be hosted until May 3 and at least two weeks would be required to make things happen.

In this lot of speculation, Sri Lanka cricket board has shown interest to organize cash-rich t20 league if Indian board wants. SLC President Shammi Silva said in an interview to Lankadeepa newspaper that it would be great for Indian board to take league another country if the nation can’t hold the competition due to coronavirus.

“If IPL is called off, Indian Cricket board and IPL stakeholders will have to bear a loss more than 0 Million.

So, it will be beneficial for them to conduct the league in another country like they did in 2009 in South Africa,” he said.

The cancellation of IPL season would hurt BCCI’s pocket and as per our estimation, board will have to bear 10,000 Crore INR loss.

“If we get the go ahead from them to this proposal, we are ready to provide all the facilities necessary under the supervision of Sri Lankan health authorities.”

BCCI considering September-October window as well to organize the event as if ICC T20 world cup gets postponed.
