Taylor-Buttler set up England for Carlton Tri-series final vs Aus

Taylor and Buttler helped England to win against India and qualify for final against Australia.

125 runs partnership for sixth wicket between James Taylor and Jos Buttler has helped England to register three wickets victory India at Perth. It wasn’t less than a semi-final match against India and England won the knockout to make it through final. England Cricket team will face Australia in Carlton mid ODI tri-series 2015 final game on February 1.

Everything went into England’s favor from the beginning of day as captain Eoin Morgan won toss and asked India to set target. India got slow and steady start as Dhawan and Rahane added 83 runs for first wicket partnership. Dhawan made 38 before getting out. India completed 100 runs in 26th over. After this India lost quick wickets and half team returned pavilion on 136 runs in 36th over.

Dhoni and Binny tried to build partnership but Finn dismissed Stuart Binny when India was on 152. After this India lost Dhoni on 164 which was India’s 7th wicket. India lost two more wickets in 1 run difference. India was 165/9 in 44.2 overs. Mohammad Shami played good shoots to take team’s total 200. Shami made 25 runs in 18 balls.

201 runs target was not big to chase in 50 overs but certainly it looked big when Perth’s pitch was helping to bowlers and uneven was playing the role. Half English side returned to pavilion in 20 overs when team’s total was just 66. All hopes were on James Taylor and wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler. Both batsmen didn’t disappoint English fans and started to build inning.

England crossed run mark in 27th over and now team was required another 101 runs to win the match in 143 balls with 5 wickets in hand. Buttler and Taylor added 50 runs for 6th wicket partnership in 56 balls and England was moving towards target slightly. In between James completed half century in 86 balls with 2 boundaries only. He worked hard to get it there.

England team reached to the 150 mark in 38.4 overs and now they needed just 51 runs in 11.

2 overs. It was easy task as both batsmen were settled. Jos Buttler made his fifty in 59 balls with 6 boundaries. Sixth wicket partnership added 100 runs in 122 balls. The target was near and England was hoping that both Buttler and Taylor would finish the match but it didn’t happen. First Taylor and then Buttler got out. James Taylor made 82 before getting out whereas Buttler scored 67.

Woakes and Broad confirmed England’s 3 wickets win at WACA. James Taylor was declared man of the match for his brilliant inning. Winning this game England qualified for the final and India team again failed. Still Indian cricket team hasn’t won single match on the tour.
